Michèle Girardon (1938-1975), sometimes credited as Michele Girardon, was a French actress. She became an international star after she taught herself English while on the set of Howard Hawks’s ‘Hatari!’. In 1975 she committed suicide via an overdose of sleeping pills at the age of 36.

In many respects, this plays like a low-key, late-career remake of —Only Angels Have Wings, substituting big-game hunters (or "catchers," I guess) in Africa for daredevil mail pilots in South America. The romantic dynamic in particular is all but identical: Woman shows up unexpectedly (albeit on purpose this time) and falls for the hero, who'd like nothing more than to get rid of her because dames and danger (hatari!) don't mix.
