Boilermaker 15K - Boilermaker Road Race (2024)

The Boilermaker is always run on the second Sunday of July. The date for the 2024 Boilermaker Road Race is Sunday, July 14, 2024.

The 5K Race starts at 7:15 AM, the Wheelchair Race starts at 7:45 AM, and the 15K Race starts at 8 AM.

There is limited race day packet pick-up available for the 15K presented by Excellus BlueCross BlueShield. Race-day packet pick-up will open at 6 AM and will have a hard close at 7:45 AM in order to ensure a proper start to the race. It will take place on the east side of Human Technologies near the start line.

Yes, for the 15K only. A bag check truck will be located along Dwyer Avenue adjacent to the 15K Start line.

Participants wishing to use this benefit should bring their own clear plastic bag as we are not able to provide them.

No, walkers are not allowed!

All Boilermaker races, including the 15K presented by Excellus BlueCross BlueShield, 5K presented by Utica National, or Erie Canal Races presented by Wolfspeed are timed events with strict cut-off times:

• 15K: 2 hours 30 minutes
• 5K: 45 minutes
• Erie Canal 10-Miler: 2 hours 30 minutes

Anyone interested in walking can register for the Boilermaker Walk that takes place at Mohawk Valley Community College the Saturday before the Boilermaker.

Boilermaker events are all held rain or shine.

In the event of severe weather that impacts runner safety, communication will be sent via email used during registration and posted on Facebook and Instagram.

Yes! Birnie Buses will transport runners from the finish area to the 15K Race start line from 6:00 AM to 7:00 AM. Arrive early for the shuttles. Don’t plan on taking the last shuttle to the start. Pick-up locations are:

1. Near the Finish Line at the corner of Court Street and State Street
2. Near the rear of the Post Race Party area on Whitesboro Street

Yes. The Transfer Process will open at noon on Wednesday, May 1st, 2024. To complete a transfer via your RunSignUp account:

• Go to runsignup.com, click on “Sign In,” and enter your email and password to sign in.
• Click on “Profile” from the drop-down menu in the upper right-hand corner.
• Find the event you wish to transfer and select “Manage Registration.”
• Select “Transfer to Another Runner” (located either at the top of the page or in the menu).
• Confirm the event information and input the recipient’s full name and email address.
• Select the Transfer Type: “Registration Gift” (no refund given to the original registrant and recipient willnotneed to pay) or “Registration Transfer” (refund given to the original registrant upon confirmed payment from the new recipient).

Online transfers must be started by Friday, July 5 and any in-progress transfers must be completed by Sunday, July 7.

There are Limited Race Weekend Transfers that must be made at the expo with both parties present.

There are norace-day transfers.

Registration for the 2024 Boilermaker Road Race is open now! Registration will remain open until we reach our caps, at which point a waitlist will open for the 15K. There is no waitlist for the 5K.

Virtual Boilermaker

All virtual runners receive an authentic race bib and a commemorative pint glass for their event. Virtual 15K runners also receive a finisher’s medal and Virtual 5K runners receive a finisher’s pin.

Virtual registration also includes all shipping fees (U.S. addresses only).

The caps for the 2024 events will be as follows:

• 15K: 10,000
• 5K: 4,500

Yes! As soon as each race reaches its caps you will need to opt-in to be placed on the waiting list. You can sign up for the waiting list by going to RunSignUp and following the prompts.

If a spot opens up, you will be notified via e-mail and you will have 48 hours to register from when the e-mail was sent. If you do not register within 48 hours you will be removed from the list. The Boilermaker is not responsible if your e-mail notice goes to your spam folder.

Registration will stay open until each event reaches its cap. There is a waiting list for 15K race only.
